Since my previous Day in the Life on here, I am no longer working - thus, on this day you can see me run some errands, hang around at home & meet up with a friend in the evening. Here is my June 1st, 2018 ;
I wake up at 5:49 AM for some reason. That's a bit too early to be getting up, so I doze off again until 8:30 AM when my alarm goes off. Even though I'm not working at the moment, I set an alarm on week days because I don't want to waste my days lying in bed 'til noon.
I now do have the time and energy in the mornings to make my bed, but I don't have the patience to do a very good job. Oh well, it's better than nothing.
Open the blinds to let some light in, open the window to let some fresh air in.
My specific reason for wanting to get up at 8:30 AM this day was because I had to run some errands, and I had vague plans to go out and play laser tag with friends in the afternoon so I wasn't sure if I would have time to do the errands then. However, I realise that there was no need to get up so early as stores only open at 10 AM anyway. So, I check Livejournal for a bit.
I didn't take any pictures of the getting dressed and ready, but here I am dressed and ready. #Ootd?
The weather over here has been sunny and hot the past week, but on Thursday night we had a huge thunderstorm. Friday is the first day in over a week when it was grey, rainy and colder.
A few months ago a friend gave me a poster as a souvenir from his trip to Prague. I finally want to go get it framed so I can hang it on the wall, so I put it in a bag to take with me.
The clock in this picture reads 10:05 AM. There are already quite a lot of people out and about in the shopping street, considering how the shops have only been open for about 5 minutes ...
I get myself a coffee to go.
My first stop is a media store called fnac. In June we have to file our taxes and the easiest way to do that is via the online tool, but you need an eID reader for that. I don't own one yet, so I need to buy one. I know there are stores that sell them for cheaper than this but I really don't feel like going out of my way to get one, so this will have to do.
I quickly snap this picture on the way to the store where I want to get my poster framed. It's really closeby, just across the water - but it has started to rain so I need to hurry or my poster will get ruined.
To my surprise, getting the poster framed was a lot more expensive than I had expected it to be and I will need to wait 3-4 weeks until I can go pick it up again. So I leave this store empty-handed and head back home.
Another random picture I took whilst walking through the city. I really love this place so I can't help myself playing tourist and snapping pictures all the time.
I realise that I'm running out of things to drink at home, so I quickly stop by my regular supermarket and buy a bottle of Ice Tea.
After that I apparently still don't feel tired of spending money, so I stop at this coffee-roasting factory / shop to buy some coffee. I like trying out different local coffees. I finally come back home and put my shopping away.
I recently signed up as a volunteer at my country's librarians' association. I basically just need to enter physical signatures onto the online petition for a campaign they're currently running. I work on that for a bit.
Throw some lunch together ...
Ta-daa! I'm having a mixed salad bowl with lettuce, carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, radishes, fresh mint and balsamic vinegar + some crackers with blue cheese and grapes.
Since I live alone, I usually eat in front of my tv. I put on some Brooklyn Nine-Nine on Netflix.
I still haven't heard anything from my friends about whether or not we'll be going to play laser tag today. I rather dislike not knowing what my plans for the day look like ... so I just play around on my laptop some more, doing more volunteer work, and wait 'til I get some news ...
I go around the flat to water my plants.
These dishes need doing ...
Whilst I'm busy in the kitchen, I finally hear from my friend that laser tag isn't happening today. I still feel like going out though, so I suggest that I can come over to his city and we can go eat sushi together (I was craving sushi and would've eaten it even if I had ended up staying at home). I get a bit anxious because my friend doesn't reply immediately and I almost regret my suggestion ; maybe he doesn't really want to hang out with me and now feels like he can't say no? However, we eventually agree to meet up around 8 PM.
Dishes are done! I still need to tidy up a bit, but it's already looking a lot neater in my kitchen.
I usually don't bother with make-up if I'm only leaving my flat to run some errands, but since I have now made social plans for the evening I will put a bit more effort into my look.
Then I remember that the glass plate from my microwave looked quite dirty and needs a cleaning. These stains (of which I have no idea what they are or how they got there) looked like they would be difficult to clean, but they came off really easily.
It has become a bit of a habit to watch one episode of Outlander on Netflix each day. Now that I will be out during the evening, I decide to sit down and watch the episode a bit earlier in the day. I snack on some chocolates that my friend left at my flat after we went on a pub crawl last weekend (he bought them at a night shop at 5 AM because he felt hungry but forgot to take them home when he left).
Then it's time to head out to the train station. The friend I'm meeting up with let me borrow one of his board games for a game night last week, so I'm taking it back to him.
I put on a vest as it's not super warm outside, and off I go ...
I'm at the tram stop at 6:17 PM and don't have to wait long for a tram. My train isn't leaving until 6:56 PM so I have plenty of time.
I get off the tram one stop before the train station. I know I won't get to eat dinner until around 9 PM (it takes more than an hour by train to get to the city where my friend lives) and I'm already getting really hungry, so I want to go to the supermarket first and buy a small snack.
There was a really long line at the till in the supermarket, so I felt glad that I left home on time.
Fill in my train ticket as I wait for my train to arrive.
I find myself a seat by the window and then I'm on this train for the next hour and a bit. I mainly spend that time eating my snack and reading the book I had brought.
Arrived at my friend's city! I'm too lazy to walk the 15 minutes to his flat, so I head to the bus stop and wait for a bus.
Due to a slight miscommunication, I am at my friend's flat and he is waiting for me in the city center. I ask him to come back home because I want to drop off his board game before going out for dinner. I snap this picture of the construction site in front of his building while I wait for him to get home.
Dinner, finally! It was really delicious, but I ordered more than I could eat as usual. No worries, I got to take the leftovers home in a doggy-bag and ate them the next day, so nothing was wasted.
I sleep over at my friend's place as it would be too late to take a train home (and, well, because we're FWBs). He plays a game on his computer with a mutual friend of ours whilst I watch what they're doing on the tv. The friend is on the phone via Skype so we get to chat and it's quite a nice way to spend the evening (I've always enjoyed watching other people game).
We go to bed a bit after midnight, and that was my day.
