Autumn, 33, living in Alamosa, CO. On this day my husband and I traveled to Grand Junction, CO.
An annoyingly early wake-up time for a day off.
I stumble out of bed, shower, and emerge to the kitchen/office/dining room and put on Friends to watch/listen to while I'm getting ready.
Let the pups out and give them treats. They don't sit still, so bluriness is all you get.
Feed Syd the bearded dragon. He's always puffy and dark in the mornings; he's not a morning lizard.
Pack lunch, snacks, and water for the trip. Pair it with coffee and tea.
Load up the car, and we are on the road!
Our first notable sight - Saguache, CO. It's when we exit the San Luis Valley and start towards the Western Slope.
We're headed to Grand Junction, which is 60 miles past Montrose.
A video going through mesa country.
A video going through Cochetopa pass outside Gunnison, CO.
And now in Gunnison. We stop briefly for a bathroom and stretching break.
Views of Blue Mesa Reservoir, the largest lake in Colorado.
At about 1pm we reach our destination, Grand Junction. First we hit up Chipotle.
Back on the road to our next destination - this is the skyline on the north side of Grand Junction, looking NE towards the mountains.
And then we arrive at our destination.
This side of the state is about 3 weeks ahead of my area in terms of Spring - so the trees are fully in blossom. It was a very welcome sight!
A peek at the empty rack on the back of our truck. Soon it will have a passenger.
Our purpose for the trip: a BMW G 310 GS motorcycle. It's small but feisty. It will primarily be my bike, but my husband will definitely get some use out of it too.
Modeling the bike. I can touch on both sides, so it's a win.
Mounted on the rack. That was a bit of a process.
Before heading back home we make a quick stop for parakeets. We own a small pet store in our town and parakeets are one of the critters we prefer to get in person so we pick out certain personalities and colors.
Back on the road. I'm working on a portfolio for the teaching program that I'm in, and naturally I've procrastinated badly, so I'm getting as much done as possible on the ~10 hour round trip drive. (I get a TON done, thanks to being able to work offline via Google Docs, and a LOT of caffeine).
Headed back towards Gunnison. Blue Mesa reservoir is peeking out on the top left.
The reservoir turns [back] into Gunnison River, which still has remnants of ice - combined with plenty of mud - marking the former water line.
We stop in Gunnison for dinner. Food is quickly consumed so that we can get home sooner, so no pictures. On the opposite side of Gunnison, we are treated to a wonderful sunset.
...and a full moon, although my phone refused to take a decent picture of it.
Skipping ahead several hours, we're home with the car unloaded, PJs on, and The Late Show on. Despite sitting for 95% of the day we're totally exhausted.
We give up at 10:24 and retire to bed.
