It's Friday, it's supposed to be a work day, but I settled my tasks yesterday, and I didn't anticipate a lot of new work to fall on my desk the following day (i.e. today), so I told my Boss I'll take the day off and he said okay, and thus, here I am today with a Friday off!
My alarm went off at 6.15am but I was feeling lazy so just rolled around in bed until 7am and got up.
It the usual morning ablutions, and going around the apartment getting the dogs to wake up. Here's Max still feeling lazy and just tilting his head over to look at me but very much not willing to move, LOL! Once we get into the car, I check my game "Walkr" and harvest my galactic produce and do whatever that has to be done in-game. It's cute game if you walk a lot or want a reason to walk a lot (walking creates "energy" for things you have to do in-game).
The dogs do their business at the dog park and soon it's going back home. We managed to make good time with the dog walk today, so returned to home area a little earlier, but that also meant that we got hit with the heavy school traffic (we live nearby 2 schools)
I've developed the habit to sort out the clothes on "The Chair" at the end of the week. Despite it being Friday, I didn't have to go to work today, so I sorted out those clothes that are not dirty enough to be washed but not clean enough to be put back in the wardrobe. My stationary bike cleared out, and the clothes are now hung neatly on the outside of the wardrobe. After getting that done, it's breakfast time with some magazine reading.
I had a split-second decision to go to the hairdresser to get a trim, and since I was thinking about dying my hair as well I figured I would walk over to a Starbucks to get something for my hairdresser visit.
Yeah the guy used that rotating heating monster machine and it was way too hot for me. Did progress a good chunk of the book I'm currently reading (taking forever to finish).
And here's a before and after. He dyed lighter brown this time. But it's not gonna hold for long. I have so many greys/whites that don't take color. Very soon the color's going to wash off. I simply don't like that I have a major patch of white hair on my left side above my ear. Just hoping to get the hair in a unified color for a bit.
Then I met my friend C for lunch. There's this new Japanese restaurant place (though I hear it's opened by a Taiwanese guy), and they specialize in Eel rice Unagi-don, and that's what we went to have. There's also this wall full of stickers and flyers and whatever else they are. Nice chatting and catching up with my friend.
We parted ways and I had another split-second decision to go over to Taipa island for a bit of a walk around, so went towards the city centre and then took the bus.
I'm a little saddened by the one and only IKEA in Macau because the IKEA here is not like the ones in Hong Kong. The ones in Hong Kong, you are forced to walk a specific route and you get to see everything. Once you go in, you can only go forward. This on in Macau is not like that. Yes, you are free to go wherever you want, but I think half the fun of being in IKEA is getting frustrated and wanting to GET OUT OF THERE! LOL.
I then walked over to another shop where I had ordered something via Facebook and got a message to go pick up the item. I then swiftly took the bus back to Macau, and then noticed that I got on a bus that would take me to a certain area in town with a few flower shops, and again, made the split-second decision to go there. I was lucky and the bus was rather empty so I had a seat to rest my feet and eyes.
That was quite a bit of walking, I walked by some 4 or 5 flower shops, then decided to get a drink (burdock root tea drink) and continued my walk, aimless with where I was going.
Oh, just a funny note that I love the name of this street: Rua de Sacadura Cabral. I know that in Hong Kong, street names are translated directly in meaning. So say there is a street called "Garden Street", the name in Chinese would mean "Garden Street" (花園街) as well. In Macau, there are a lot of streets named with people names, and I find it hilarious that they just use the Chinese words to create a similar sounding name to the Portuguese name, and it makes no sense. Rua de Sacadura Cabral 沙喜都喇賈罷麗街 is basically just trying to assimilate the sound of "Sacadura Cabral" with Chinese words, and doesn't really mean anything in Chinese.
Oh, then I walked past the Tap Seac Square and they have this weekend art fair or flea market thing going on. It was some 4pm when I reached there and I guess it was a bit too early, so not all the stalls were open yet. I did a quick walk around to see if I recognized any of the stall names, but didn't find any. I spied one stall though, they were putting out their terrariums, so I may just go again tomorrow or Sunday.
By then I was really tired and instead of walking home as I thought I would do, I walked over to a nearby bus stop. I checked the bus app and saw none of the faster busses that can get me home were coming, only the one bus that practically takes you on a tour going around town was coming, but I didn't care and hopped on it. I got to the home area in 30 minutes (for a trip that could have taken 10 minutes).
Before I went home though, I dropped by my friend's pastry shop because I wanted to place a deposit for a cake for Mother's Day. My friend usually lets me have free cakes on Tuesdays (they are closed on Wednesdays), so I also try to give her business by ordering cakes from her.
I actually did buy some new plants today. I had been looking for a mini orchid for so long and I finally found it today, but I also found out I have no place to accommodate such a tall plant. I may have to bring that to work on Monday.
The late afternoon was spent snoozing in bed. At one point I lounged in my parents' bed because Mom wanted someone to entertain the cat.
It's Friday and so dinner was fish.
After dinner, it was time to walk the dogs again. Dogs dinner followed immediately once we got home.
After making sure the dogs have eaten, its time to clean the kitty litter box. Max and Frankie continue to play and just making a lot of noise in general.
I shower quick, then slather a mask on. FINALLY I've finished that tub of mask! It had expired for a month and I was trying to use it up. It was then time to hop into my little haven: my bed!
Still diligent with my 5-year Techo writing... and I also finally got to write a couple of letters (snail mail!) since my email exchange with some new potential friends. They were OK on email, let's see if they are diligent with snail mail!
Aaaaanndd.... finally, before I go to bed, it's getting the photos together and writing this post.
Hope you enjoyed my day, I'm going to bed now. Until the next time!
