Skincare challenge 20-February-2021

To preface, my skincare routine usually is a lot more complicated, however, I've been trying to use up everything I have, even all the samples (and I mean completely use up everything) so that I can cleanup my storage space. Also, I kind of think that with this shortened routine, my skin actually looks and feels better than before, so maybe I'll stick to it :-)

Day time routine


In the morning, I usually just wash my face with water, then it's 1. Toner; 2. Eye cream; 3. Day Serum; 4. Day cream these have actually been used up just yesterday, so now it's skipped to step 5; 5. Moisturizer; 6. Primer with SPF; 7. Eye liner; 8. Mascara


The 2 tubes on step 6 are the same, I may be on a quest to use up everything I have on hand, but that doesn't mean I let things go to waste. After I couldn't squeeze any product from the tube, I cut it up and there's still a lot more product in the nooks and crannies!


Make up wise, I usually would go for foundation/concealers/and all that and eyeshadow, but with the requirement to wear face masks, I've also trimmed down my make up steps to just eyeliner and mascara and large glasses. It does cover up my eye bags/dark circles, LOL

Night time routine


Night time, my routine is also pretty much trimmed down to very few steps. There is 1. Cleanser; 2. Sugar scrub / Lush mask (love the smell of chocolate on this one) / Eye mask, rotated daily, so it's sugar scrub today, Lush tomorrow, eye mask day after, etc.; 3. Moisturizing wash-off mask; 4. Toner; 5. Eye cream; and 6. Some random Serum I had, but it's just used up today, so I'm going to switch to the same non-SPF moisturizer I use in the morning as well.

I also have a moisturizing lip balm that is supposed to be used overnight, but I tend to sleep with my face in the pillow and I don't want to soil my pillow that way LOL. I use that sporadically during my waking moments.

My theory is, I used to use too many products before (emulsifiers/ampoules/serums/essence/concentrate/etc...) and that's actually clogged up my pores and made me have breakouts and discoloration. Now that I use so little product, my skin has improved.


After these are used up, I still have a whole pack (and one other pack hidden somewhere, I have to find them) of testers and samples... and when these are used up, I will re-stock but probably keep to the same current minimalistic approach to my skincare.
